Arunachal: Assam Rifles personnel and a youth injured in exchange of fire

The situation was brought under control after senior officials from the civil and police administration reached the spot.

Sensation prevailed in Arunachal Pradesh’s Changlang district after a village youth and an Assam Rifles personnel were injured in an exchange of fire on Friday evening.

The incident took place at around 6:30 pm in Kharsang area of Changlang district in Arunachal Pradesh when three youths who were out for fishing and hunting came across the Assam Rifles patrol.

As per inputs, on being challenged, the youths opened fire injuring the Assam Rifles personnel. Subsequently, during retaliatory firing one of the youths also sustained bullet injuries.

The youths have been identified as Lemmong Longri, Reylom Longri and Khamwang Hakhi, all residents of Injan village.

Following the incident, locals gheraoed the Assam Rifles personnel and there was some heated exchange of words.

Later, the situation was brought under control after senior officials from the civil and police administration reached the spot.

The injured youth Lemmong Longri was referred to Margherita in Assam’s Tinsukia district for further treatment and the injured Assam Rifles personnel Rifleman Vikas was shifted to Dinjan army hospital for further treatment.
