“Inspired by Hon PM’s vision, a large number of militants have shunned the path of violence and decided to help us build a new Assam. Under the surrender-cum- rehabilitation policy & #Swavalamban scheme they received skill development training & are now leading a dignified life,” CM Sarma wrote on X formerly known as Twitter.
More than 7,200 cadres of various insurgent groups have surrendered arms and returned to the mainstream in the state since May 2021, CM Sarma had said while speaking at an arms laydown ceremony in Dima Hasao in October this year.
In an effort to help the misguided youths get back on track, the Assam government is taking all necessary measures for imparting skill development of entrepreneurship to make them employment worthy so that these persons are rehabilitated and lead a normal life with dignity.
The Assam government has already trained 630 numbers of cadres of different outfits.
Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has been urging the militant outfits in the state to shun the path of violence and work towards the growth and development of Assam.
