Pratibha Singh Baghel, who along with singers such as Kaushiki Chakraborty, perhaps represents the new generation of classical singers in the country, was here in Guwahati recently singing for a select audience at a university in the city, enthralling them with a selection of classical and light classical presentations.

In line with the latest trends in music, Pratibha is known equally for her candid live jam sessions on social media platforms, as she is for her orthodox classical concerts, taking viewers through an array of Hindustani and Hindi film music, adept as she is at both Bollywood songs as she is with raags, ghazals and thumris. Her jam sessions with singing and musician buddies draw millions of views on social media.

Only 32, she is also quite the fashionista bringing to the stage a refreshing new presence. A popular Bollywood playback singer, Pratibha In terms of her training as a classical singer, holds a Sangeet Prabhakar and a Sangeet Parveen in Hindustani classical music. “Diwali celebrations began with a beautiful evening with Pratibha Singh Baghel,” a fan later wrote on social media, after attending Pratibha’s Guwahati show.
