The All Moran Students Union’s (AMSU) Arunachal Pradesh committee has called for a 12 hour bandh in Lekang in Namsai district of Arunachal Pradesh on Wednesday starting from 5 am.
The bandh has been called alleging the Arunachal Pradesh government’s failure and negligence in issuing Permanent Residential Certificate (PRC) and other constitutional rights to the indigenous Moran community residing in Lekang legislative assembly constituency in Namsai district of the state.
“This bandh is to tell Arunachal government that they have murdered democracy by not giving the constitutional rights and not issuing PRC to the large Moran community residing in the state. The government had earlier said that they would grant PRC but after initial movement on the issue, nothing happened. Three committees were set up too. Through this bandh we want to put pressure on the state government and we would also like to warn the government if our demands are not met, our agitation will get more intense and aggresive,” said Surajit Moran, AMSU member

The students body had resorted to various agitational programme on the same issue ealier but their demands are yet to be met.
