Arunachalee kayaker, Kishon Tekseng secures 3rd place in Megha Kayak Fest 2023

Good news for Arunachal Pradesh. Kayaker Kishon Tekseng from the state has brought laurel to state and the nation as a whole, by securing 3rd place in the Megha Kayak Fest 2023 (MKF), an international white water kayaking competition.

Tekseng secured 3rd place in the Subcontinent’s Best Paddler category at the Megha Kayak Fest held in the Umtrew River, near Umtham Village in Meghalaya’s Ri Bhoi district from October 12 to 14.

Tekseng, representing India, showcased his extraordinary skills by competing against a formidable lineup of international paddlers including well-known Olympians like Evy Leibfarth and Kaelin Friedenson.

Besides, Tekseng, 2 more kayakers from the state–Oyon Pertin and Petor Tayeng, also participated at the event.

Congratualting Tekseng, Deputy Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh took to X and wrote, “Arunachalee kayaker, Shri Kishon Tekseng, has made us proud by securing third place in the Subcontinent’s Best Paddler category at the Megha Kayak Fest 2023 (MKF), an international white water kayaking competition.Heartiest congratulations to Kishon for showcasing his remarkable talent and bringing glory to our Nation and our beautiful State of Arunachal Pradesh.”

The Meghalaya government’s departments of Tourism and Sports & Youth Affairs along with Meghalaya Canoe Association organised the Megha Kayak Fest 2023.
