Tripura Congress president Ashish Kumar Saha demanded that the government take adequate steps to equally benefit the SC, ST, OBC, and minority communities

Alleging that the Centre has repeatedly ignored the marginalized section of the society, the Tripura Congress has demanded for a caste based census in the state. The Opposition party said that it seeks the implementation of the same prior to the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
Briefing newspersons, Tripura Congress president Ashish Kumar Saha alleged that the government was ignoring the party’s demand which seeks to provide benefits to the OBC communities.
Saha alleged, that the BJP had passed the Women Reservation Bill ahead of the parliamentary elections just to to sway the voters from the issue of upliftment of the OBC community.
Ashish Saha backing the demand of his party said, “The Congress party’s stance remains steadfast: a community’s share should be determined by its proportional representation. Conducting a caste-based census ensures that every community receives its rightful allocation.”
“The central government is showing no hurry to initiate the process of delimitation of the constituencies, despite Congress having repeatedly demanded a caste census in the country for the holistic development of society,” the Tripura Congress president alleged.
The Congress leader demanded that steps be taken to guarantee that SC, ST, OBC, and minority communities get equal benefit.
INDIA alliance has been demanding for a caste based census. Bihar, earlier this month released a caste based survey. The CPM government in Kerala is under pressure to conduct a similar survey.
