Beichhua speaking to Northeast Live said that he was deeply influenced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visionary leadership
Former minister and MNF MLA K Beichhua, who was shown the door for alleged ‘anti-party’ activities, today stepped down as MLA. He is scheduled to join BJP today.
Speaking to Northeast Live, Beichhua said that he has been influenced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership and his actions to transform the nation particularly the Northeast.
Beichhua said, “There are certain points as to why I have decided to join BJP. The first point is as I look back to nine years of Modiji’s government’s performance, India has become global superpower. Secondly, so far as the economy is concerned his performance and his government has accelerated the economic growth of India. Thirdly, he is really concerned about the Northeast states, its development and the minority communities. He really gives focus on the 6th Schedule areas. Fourthly, at present BJP dominates the central politics as well politics in Northeast. So I hope it will continue to dominate Indian politics. That is why I decided to join the BJP.”
Although the BJP is yet to make a formal announcement, K Beichhua revealed that he will be fighting the impending polls from his home turf, the Siaha constituency from where he has been elected twice since 2013.
He said, “Yes I will be contesting from the same constituency. I have a high hope for the upcoming election.”
Sources said that Union Minister of State for Minority Affairs John Barla will formally induct Beichhua into BJP at a function on Friday.
Beichhua resigned as Minister of State on December 12, 2022, a day after Chief Minister Zoramthanga asked him to do so and was expelled from the MNF on January 25 this year.
He was accused of being loyal to the BJP and instrumental in toppling the MNF-Congress coalition government in the Mara Autonomous District Council (MADC) and installation of the BJP government through defection of some MNF members of district council (MDCs) loyal to him.
