The annual recognition fee of Rs. 1,000 will have to be paid by Head of the Institution, not the students, SEBA Controller of Examination, Nayan Jyoti Sarma said.

Amid reports of hike in fee structure for the High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) examination resulting in confusion among students and parents, the Board of Secondary Education, Assam (SEBA) on Thursday clarified that the Board has announced no such increase in the fee structure for HSLC candidates.

Stating that candidates will continue to pay Rs. 1,200 when filling out their examination forms, not the erroneously reported amount of Rs. 2,200, Controller of Examination of SEBA, Nayan Jyoti Sarma said that the confusion was over an additional Rs. 1,000 which several mistook as to be paid by the candidates whereas it was to be paid by the Head of the Institution as an Annual Recognition Fee.

On Wednesday, SEBA issued a notification regarding the dates of form fill-up and online payment for the HSLC examination along with the fee structure for the same.

According to the notification, the examination fee remains at Rs. 700, with an additional Rs. 150 for the practical examination fee (if applicable). Candidates have to pay Rs. 350 as centre fee.

The annual recognition fee of Rs. 1,000 will be the responsibility of the Head of the Institution, not the students.
