Assam to advertise for 22,000 more govt jobs in October: CM Sarma

Chief Minister Sarma said that 5,000 opportunities in Assam Police will open up in next 7 days.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma today announced that the state government will be advertising in October to fill another 22,000 vacancies in order to recruit a total of 1 lakh youths for government jobs as promised by the present government.
CM Sarma made the announcement during the convocation ceremony of the Lachit Barphukan Police Academy in Dergaon.
Speaking to media, Chief Minister Sarma said that 5,000 Assam Police job vacancies will be opened in next 7 days.
In the convocation ceremony, a total of 1817 police personnel of armed and unarmed wings have completed their training today.
At the onset of the ceremony, the Chief Minister received the salute along with the police parade. It is noteworthy that for the first time in the country, 1,817 soldiers are participating in the convocation ceremony at the end of training together in Assam Police. These include 1,576 male and 241 female policemen.
During the campaigning for 2021 state assembly elections, the BJP had promised to provide one lakh government jobs in Assam to the unemployed youths. The chief minister said that the decision to offer one lakh jobs to unemployed youths of Assam was ratified by the state cabinet in its very first meeting after he took over the office in 2021, however, owing to the second and third waves of the Covid-19 pandemic, the process got delayed.
