Mukul Sangma backed his remarks in the Assembly and said that it was CM Conrad Sangma who has spoken on the issue outside the House

Former Meghalaya Chief Minister Mukul Sangma today said that Chairman of B2 group of companies, Henry Lalremsanga must send a legal notice to Chief Minister Conrad Sangma. The former Chief Minister reacted after Lalremsanga sent him a (Mukul Sangma) legal notice for his “drugs kingpin” remark in the Meghalaya Assembly.
On Septmber 19, Mukul Sangma while taking part in a motion on drugs menace in the state had referred to Henry Lalremsanga as a “drugs kingpin” who was arrested.
In response to the legal notice, Mukul Sangma said, “Let me see the legal notice. If it has been served, than I have to receive it. I will see what type of legal notice is given and what are the provisions of law under which he is sending me this notice. Inside the august House my statement is very clear. It has been more of an advisory to the Chief Minister. It is only the Chief Minister who has taken it outside the House. He (Henry Lalremsanga) should send a legal notice to the Chief Minister.”
Mukul Sangma backed his action in the Assembly and said that the matter was raised and discussed for the larger interests of the society.
Sangma stated, “What I have said in the House is available, it is in the public domain though it has been expunged subsequently. But please remember one thing, after my submission in the august House with a clear intent, the intent is well reflected of my way of submission of the facts in the interests of the people. Keeping in mind the kind of situation that is now prevailing in the state, not only in Meghalaya but across Northeast and the kind of situation that is considered alarming, that is the only reason why this issue was brought.”
Mukul Sangma reiterated that Henry Lalremsanga should instead send a legal notice to Chief Minister Conrad Sangma. The former Meghalaya Chief Minister added, “As far as this case is concerned after having raised this issue, what was spoken by me pertaining to that issue inside the House is available. But outside the House when the Chief Minister himself started speaking, he should send this legal notice to the Chief Minister only.”
Henry Lalremsanga has slapped a legal notice, Rs 20 crore in damages to be paid in 7 days and sought an unconditional apology from former Meghalaya Chief Minister and TMC leader Mukul Sangma for making ‘malicious and defamatory’ statements against Lalremsanga on the floor of the Meghalaya Assembly just a couple of days back.
