Tynsong assured the people of Meghalaya that the government is resolute in its commitment to maintain law and order
Meghalaya’s Deputy Chief Minister, Prestone Tynsong, has said that the state government will not tolerate the resurgence of any terrorist organization within the state.
In a clear and straight forward statement, DCM Tynsong assured the people of Meghalaya that the government is resolute in its commitment to maintain law and order. He stated, “Any regrouping of any so-called terrorist group at any level will not be allowed by the state government.”
Tynsong emphasized the importance of not jumping to conclusions based on media reports, saying, “We should not listen right now to the media report. But the fact remains that the talk has just started between the Government of India, State Government, and HNLC.”
HNLC refers to the Hynniewtrep National Liberation Council, a militant outfit in the region.
He also expressed doubt about the possibility of HNLC regrouping, given the fact that their talks with the government are going on.
Tynsong stated, “I don’t think they will do that as, on one hand, they talk, and on the other hand, if they regroup, I think that principle is contradictory. Although the government has no input about it.”
Tynsong assured the public that the government remains vigilant round the clock, ready to address any threat, whether it’s the regrouping of existing terrorist organizations or the formation of new militant groups.
While the official talks have already begun, the Deputy Chief Minister noted that they are awaiting further discussions, with no tentative date confirmed yet.
He mentioned, “We don’t have the tentative date yet, but from the government side, we have communicated to them if we can meet on and off this month.”
