Mizoram CM appeals to Kuki-Zo people in Manipur to adopt policy of non-violence

To ensure that peace prevails among the tribal community of Manipur, Mizoram Chief Minister Zoramthanga appealed to the Kuki-Zo people inhabiting the hill areas of Manipur to have a policy of non-violence and strive for the maintenance of peace in their respected areas.
In a meeting with leaders of Manipur’s Tengnoupal district, Chief Minister Zoramthanga said that the Mizoram government will leave no stone unturned to lend a helping hand to the tribal community in Manipur, which has been bearing the brunt of ethnic violence in the neighbouring state.
He said that roads between Mizoram and hill areas of Manipur have been repaired to ensure the smooth flow of essential commodities to the tribal areas.
He expressed hope that the helicopter service between Aizawl and Churachandpur, will solve a number of problems of the tribal community, including medical emergencies.
The leaders of the people of Tengnoupal district, led by Khaitinlem, expressed gratitude to Zoramthanga for taking steps to solve their problems in the midst of ethnic violence and standing behind them in this time of crisis.
They also expressed gratitude to the Chief Minister for helping the Kuki-Zo tribal community in times of need and for being a solace by maintaining a fatherly figure.
A number of leaders, including Manipur tribal legislators, the Indigenous Tribal Leaders Forum, the Zomi Council, and others, had called on Zoramthanga on Friday to express their gratitude to him, the state government, civil societies, churches, and the people of Mizoram for their solidarity with the Manipur Kuki-Zo tribal community in Manipur in times of crisis.
