Manipur unrest: Australia’s Thadou Baptist Church reaches out to displaced persons in strife-torn Kangpokpi

More than 200 internally displaced persons were given the relief materials in the first phase

In a goodwill gesture, a church in Melbourne, Australia, reached out to internally displaced persons (IDPs) with relief materials in strife-torn Kangpokpi district in Manipur on Friday.

The Thadou Baptist Church (TBA) in Melbourne contributed among the church members and reached out to the displaced persons in Kangpokpi through the Thadou Students’ Association-General Headquarters, which later entrusted its Sadar Hills units to distribute the relief items to the displaced persons today at TBA Centre Church, Kangpokpi.

More than 200 internally displaced persons were given the relief materials in the first phase.

TSA Sadar Hills President Paominlun Lhouvum, appreciated the goodwill gesture of the Melbourne Thadou Baptist Church, Australia, in reaching out to the internally displaced persons and conveyed sincere gratitude to all the members of the church from the TSA.

He expressed that with the assistance of the Thadou Baptist Church in Melbourne and the TSA Sadar Hills, under the aegis of TSA General Headquarters, they could bring smiles to the people affected during the conflict.

He also highlighted that the TSA Sadar Hills has been continuously doing its best to alleviate the suffering of internally displaced persons since the wide-scale violence erupted on May 3.

He further said that TSA Sadar Hills will strive to work for the welfare of internally displaced persons while also focusing deeply on the education of the displaced students.
