‘X’ to replace Twitter’s Bluebird as Elon Musk rebrands microblogging site

Musk’s Twitter faces tough competition from Meta’s Thread, which has amassed millions of users on a Twitter-like platform.

Twitter boss, Elon Musk on Sunday announced that Twitter’s logo will change to “X” from its iconic Blue bird symbol.

Musk in a tweet said, “And soon we shall bid adieu to the Twitter brand and, gradually, all the birds.”

Last year, Musk bought the social media platform for $44 billion.

Musk said the change would happen later today.

“If a good enough X logo is posted tonight, we’ll make go live worldwide tomorrow,” he said in tweet.
Musk posted a short video of a flickering “X,” and later in a Twitter Spaces audio chat, he replied “Yes” when he was asked whether the logo will change.

Musk is also considering turning the default platform colour to black, which is currently set to white.
Twitter’s CEO Linda Yaccino has already confirmed the micro-blogging platform will be called “X”, an AI-powered platform centered around audio, video, messaging, payments, and baking.

“It’s an exceptionally rare thing — in life or in business — that you get a second chance to make another big impression,” Yaccino tweeted.

“Twitter made one massive impression and changed the way we communicate. Now, X will go further, transforming the global town square,” chief added.

“X will connect us all in ways we’re just beginning to imagine,” she continued.

Musk’s Twitter faces tough competition from Meta’s Thread, which has amassed millions of users on a Twitter-like platform.

By placing the most frequently utilized services behind a barrier, Twitter has recently been encouraging more users to purchase premium blue subscriptions. The corporation might further improve the platform with this rebranding in order to encourage more people to jump on the subscription bandwagon.

Earlier, in April 2023, Twitter’s blue bird logo was replaced by the logo of Dogecoin, a cryptocurrency.

However, it was replaced by the original logo in just a matter of days.
