Police today interrogated Rai for almost two hours regarding the FIR lodged against him

Chief Coordinator of Citizen Action Party (CAP), Ganesh Rai has refuted allegations against him of misappropriating funds of Multipurpose cooperative society (MPCS).

On June 23, MPCS workers filed an FIR against Rai at the Melli Dara Police Station accusing him of financial mismanagement of the funds of the co-operative society. Accordingly, police registered a case against Rai under Sections 420, 468, 406, 419, 471 and 120B of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

As part of the inquiry process, the Police asked the CAP leader to give his statement regarding the matter by June 30.

The CAP leader with his supporters today went to the Police Station and gave his statement.

Police interrogated Rai for almost two hours regarding the FIR lodged against him.

Later talking to media, Ganesh Rai said that he has given his statement and answered all the questions asked by the police and also told police that he is ready for further interrogation anytime. He said that the allegations levelled against him are all false.

It may be mentioned here that the embezzlement of funds is with regard to credit limits and loans granted to different beneficiaries for different agricultural purposes during the period of 2014-2015. Ganesh Rai was the then President of the Multi-Purpose Cooperative Society (MPCS) Melli Dara.

“I had only recommended the workers for the loan while I was the Chairman of MPCS but never took it, therefore I will answer this in court,” he said.

He also said that he would not file a counter-FIR against the people of his village but he had filed a complaint against the SKM party’s social media pages for posting about the accusations made against him.
