Congress leader Rahul Gandhi to visit strife-torn Manipur on June 29–30

This is a humanitarian tragedy and it is our responsibility to be a force of love, not hate,” Congress party leader KC Venugopal wrote in a tweet.

Earlier, Rahul Gandhi launched an attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi for staying ‘silent’ over the ongoing violence in Manipur.

The Cong leader said that he is opening a ‘Mohabbat ki Dukaan’ (shops spreading love) in the ‘Nafrat ka Bazaar’ (shops spreading hatred) in every heart in Manipur.

 “BJP’s politics of hatred has burnt Manipur for over 40 days leaving more than a hundred people dead. The PM has failed India and is completely silent. An all-party delegation must be sent to the state to end this cycle of violence & restore peace. Let’s shut this ‘Nafrat ka Bazaar’ and open a ‘Mohabbat ki Dukaan’ in every heart in Manipur.” Cong leader Rahul Gandhi wrote in a tweet on June 15.

The Congress party has been repeatedly hitting out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi over his “silence” on the ongoing violence in Manipur that has erupted in the state since May 3.

On June 25, Senior Congress leader Jairam Ramesh alleged that while Manipur is “burning”, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is “silent”, Home Minister Amit Shah is “ineffective” and Chief Minister N. Biren Singh is “non-functional”.

Jairam Ramesh added that Chief Minister N Biren Singh should be replaced immediately.
