Manipur Guv Anusuiya Uikey briefs PM Modi, HM Shah and Def Min Rajnath Singh about Manipur situation

Governor Anusuiya Uikey informed PM Modi in detail about the series of violent incidents taking place both in hill and valley districts of the state which lead to the loss

Manipur Governor Anusuiya Uikey called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh in New Delhi today and apprised them of the prevailing situation in violence-hit Manipur and the aftermath of the ethnic clashes which erupted on May 3, 2023.

Governor Anusuiya Uikey informed PM Modi in detail about the series of violent incidents taking place both in hills and valley districts of the state which lead to the loss of lives and properties.

The Governor also informed the Prime Minister about the various measures taken by the centre as well as the state government to normalise the situation and bring back peace and tranquillity in the state.

She informed the Prime Minister about the issues and suggestions received from Civil Society Organisations, political representatives, student organisations etc from Meitei, Kuki and Naga communities in the State as well in Delhi.

Furthermore, the Manipur Governor explained the condition and grievances of violence affected people staying in relief camps and steps taken up by the government for their early resettlement and rehabilitation.

Governor Anusuiya Uikey apprised Union Home Minister Amit Shah of the present security situation in the state and informed that after he visited Manipur, peace and normalcy has been restored to a certain extent though few violent incidents have taken place.

She also had a discussion on how to restore peace and normalcy to the state, early resettlement and rehabilitation of those affected by violence, education, etc., as well as ways to bridge the trust gap between the two communities.

Meeting Defence Minister Rajnath Singh in New Delhi today, Governor Anusuiya Uikey applauded the efforts of the Indian Army for carrying out relief and rescue operations aftermath of the communal violence and providing aid to the civil administration in the violence-hit state.

The Governor briefed the Defence Minister about the joint combing operations carried out by Indian Army along with other state/paramilitary forces at various sensitive locations and consequently huge cache of arms and ammunitions have also been recovered.

Governor has informed that she is being regularly briefed by the higher rank Army/Assam rifles officers about the security situation in Manipur.

She informed that multiple medical camps have been organised by Army/Assam Rifles at various places for the affected people both in the hills and valley district.
