MCP accused CM N Biren Singh of being responsible for the deaths of at least 73 ‘Mizo kindred brothers’

Amid the volatile situation in Manipur, Aizawl-based Mizoram Chhantu Pawl (MCP) burnt an effigy of Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh for allegedly letting loose state-sponsored ethnic cleansing against the ‘Kuki-Zo’ community in the neighbouring state.

As per sources, members of various political parties and civil society organisations also took part in the burning of CM Biren Singh’s effigy.

Burning CM Biren Singh’s effigy yesterday, June 3, MCP also accused the Chief Minister of being responsible for the deaths of at least 73 ‘Mizo kindred brothers’ and the torching of houses belonging to the ‘Kuki-Zo’ community.

MCP alleged that all the incidents resulting in the loss of lives and properties in Manipur happened due to the tribal land-grabbing policy of the Biren Singh government.

They further maintained that even though national and international borders may separate the “Zo kindred brothers,” their hearts are not separated and will remain united.

Manipur is on the boil for over a month now since violent clashes broke in the state on May 3, 2023.

Close to 90 lives have been lost, hundreds injured, thousands have been displaced, a huge trust deficit between communities have cropped up, people are fleeing from their homes in their own state.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah was in the state from May 29-Jun 1.
