Taking full responsibility for the recent unrest for the first time, CM N Biren urged communities to strive for peace.
In a big statement post the mind-numbing violence that had rocked the state recently, Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh on Sunday has for the first time admitted that there have been security lapses and intelligence failure during the recent violence and unrest in the state.
Speaking on the sidelines of an event in Imphal, Chief Minister N Biren Singh appelaed to communities not to blame or fight each other and blame the government instead for the lapses.
The Manipur Chief Minister said, “I want to make an appeal. If any community has any grievances, it’s because of our (Govt) mistakes. Whatever happened was because of our mistakes, our lapses in security & intelligence. Don’t blame one or the other community, blame the Govt, we will take the responsibility.”
Taking full responsibility for the recent unrest for the first time, CM N Biren urged communities to strive for peace.
Chief Minister N Biren Singh also reached out to the 10 Kuki Chin MLAs who have demanded a separate administration.
In this context, he said, “The 10 MLAs are a part of our family. Manipur is a unique state with 34-35 recognised tribes, we are all brothers. Very unfortunate incidents have taken place. My appeal to the people of the state is let us try to bring back the normalcy and let us live together.”
Speaking separately to mediapersons after the event, N Biren Singh reiterated and appealed, “What is gone is gone, now our mission is to restore normalcy in Manipur. There was no fight between communities, there should not be any fight between the communities, it is purely with the Government. When the Govt tries to do something, resistance or acceptance does take place. It is the duty of the govt to expedite the issues. My appeal to the people is that this issue is not between the communities, blame the govt if you have to and whatever the government can rectify it will rectify.”
