Naga students body demand quality education in Manipur hill districts Govt schools

ANSAM urged the Manipur govt to give equal importance in the schools and colleges in the hill districts by following UGC guidelines

The All Naga Students’ Association, Manipur(ANSAM) has urged the government to take immediate steps to ensure quality education in the Government High schools, Government Higher Secondary schools located in hill districts of Manipur.

“ANSAM would like to urge the state government to give equal importance in the hill based schools and colleges by at least fulfilling basic provision as per UGC guidelines to develop schools in hill districts of Manipur,” the student body said in a release

The students body highlighted the “acute shortages in all the basis and educational infrastructures from the reports of the school authority” and sought the intervention of the concerned department to introduce Honours courses in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Geology, MA and MSc courses in Political Science, Zoology, Botany and opening of new disciplines particularly B.Com, Geography, Sociology, Philosophy, Statistics and Defence Studies in United College Lambung, Chandel at the earliest possible time.
“The growing number of students pursuing Commerce, Geography, Sociology and Statistics in various feeder schools of Chandel like Maha Union Govt. Higher Secondary School, St Peter’s Higher Secondary school, Anallon Christian Higher Secondary school, Sugnu and SEMCO Higher school has put tremendous pressure to make avenue of higher studies available,” ANSAM said.

ANSAM also pointed out the shortage of teachers particularly in Chakpikarong Higher Secondary School and urged the concerned department of state government to address the issue at the earliest.

“ANSAM would also like to seek the attention of the state government to fill the requirement for subject teachers in high school section and Higher Secondary section of Chakpikarong Higher Secondary school,” the student body said.

ANSAM shared the detailed requirement of teaching faculty in Chakpikarong Higher Secondary school:
High School section: Mathematics(2), Physics(2), Biology(1), Hindi(1 GT), Meetei Mayek(1 GT), English(1GT), Home Sceince(1 GT) and Social Science(2 GT). Higher Secondary Section: Economics(2 Lecturers), Mathematics(2 Lecturers), History(1 Lecturer), Education(1 Lecturer), Physics(2 Lecturer), Geography( 2 Lecturer) and Lab. Attendance(1 Lecturer).
ANSAM also pointed out that the post of Principal and Vice-Principal have been lying vacant. The post of Principal has been lying vacant since February 1 this year, the day the outgoing Principal retired.

The student body also urged the concerned authorities to fix the school building.
