Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang on Saturday made a strong statement regarding government jobs that were granted to Residential Certificate (RC) holders in 2018 without possessing a Sikkim subject.
CM Tamang stated that strict action would be taken against the officers and others involved in the recruitment process after conducting an inquiry into the matter. Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang Golay, said this while addressing the public during the Baishaki Parwa celebration in Namchi, where he was the chief guest.
It has come to light that some individuals who were granted government jobs in Sikkim in 2018 during SDF governance did not have a Sikkim subject, which is a mandatory requirement for government employment in the state.
The Sikkim Subject Certificate is issued to individuals who can prove their permanent residence and lineage in Sikkim prior to April 26, 1975, as per the provisions of Article 371F of the Constitution of India, which grants special privileges and safeguards to the people of Sikkim.
The Chief Minister stated that those responsible for granting jobs to RC holders without Sikkim Subject would face consequences for their actions.
He added that the so-called politicians involved in giving jobs to RC holders back in 2018 are now saying that Article 371F is being diluted and is in danger.
