The Galo Welfare Society has declared a mass one-day casual leave for all its members working under the state government in various departments across the state on April 10. The move is aimed at expressing solidarity with Late Tumi Gangkak, the former undersecretary of APPSC, who was found hanging from a tree in Poma Village in Papum Pare district of Arunachal Pradesh on 24th February 2023.

The Galo Welfare Society has also decided to launch a series of democratic movements through a steering committee, and fund mobilization for the same will be done through crowd-funding within the community.

Earlier this week, the Galo Welfare Society staged a one-day protest in Itanagar, expressing dissatisfaction with the government and concerned departments for failing to nab the culprits responsible for the death of Tumi Gangkak even after a month. They also demanded that the postmortem report of Gangkak be made public.

This move is expected to send a strong message to the government and administration about the community’s resolve to seek justice for Tumi Gangkak and ensure accountability for those responsible for his untimely demise.

Late Tumi Gangkak was under suspension for his alleged involvement in the APPSC question paper leak scam.
