The Sikkim Progressive Youth Forum (SPFY), Hamro Sikkim Party (HSP), Sikkim Democratic Front (SDF) along with members from different political groups today held a rally against the rising political violence in Sikkim.

The rally led by the SPFY general secretary Rupen Karki started from Amdo Golai to District Administrative Centre in Gangtok.
Meanwhile, Press Secretary to CM Prem Singh Tamang and Spokesperson of the Sikkim Krantikari Morcha (SKM), Bikash Basnet speaking to Northeast Live said that in his opinion, the purpose of the rally before the 2024 Lok Sabha election is to grab the public’s attention.

“There have been several incidents of violence from 1994 to 2019, yet nobody wants to talk about them. Since there have not been any protests over incidents of violence in the past, in my opinion, the purpose of this rally before the 2024 election is to create propaganda and grab the public’s attention. But the public knows, there is no point in doing all of these things,” he said.
