The deportation process of 87 foreign nationals, including 22 Bangladeshis, 64 Myanmarese and one from the African country of Senegal, who had entered India illegally has begun. The inmates who were lodged at the Silchar central jail (Transit Camp) will be taken to the newly constructed Transit Camp in Goalpara.
Speaking to Northeast Live by Cachar SP Numal Mahatta said, “This is in line with the order received from the Gauhati High Court. These inmates from Silchar transit camp are shifted to the newly constructed transit camp in Goalpara.”
When asked about the exact date of deportation of these individuals, Cachar SP Numal Mahatta informed,”In that aspect we can’t say anything because as per the order of the Honourable High court they are being shifted from here to Goalpara. That’s all.”
However, as per inputs, talks are going on at the diplomatic between representatives of the Centre, and other respective governments to facilitate the deportation process and complete all necessary formalities. Only after that the exact date of deportation will be fixed.

8 Bangladesh nationals, including seven men and one woman, who were in the past arrested for illegally entering, were deported to their country through the Sutarkandi checkpoint near the India-Bangladesh international border in Karimganj district.
Inputs also suggest that 1 Bangladeshi national was deported to Bangladesh on January 14, another Bangladeshi on February 16.
