Sikkim Commission for Protection of Child Rights files FIR against JAC

Chairperson of Sikkim Commission for Protection of Child Rights, Roma Tamang has lodged an FIR against Joint Action Council for making children participate in the Sikkimese Unity Day rallies at MG Marg, Gangtok, Sikkim, claiming it to be illegal.
It is to be mentioned here that the FIR has been filed under section 336/34 1PC, 1860, R/W SEC 75/83(2)/87 of Justice Juvenile Act, 2015 and the case is under investigation.
Chairperson Roma Tamang alleged that JAC had used the children as a shield during the Sikkimese Unity festival in MG Marg as children were seen wearing traditional attire and walking on MG road with other members on fronts.
It is to be mentioned that the Sikkimese community came together to commemorate Sikkimese Unity Day on March 8, 2023, in MG Marg, demonstrating their cultural traditions.
