Indian Railways to launch special train tour “North East Discovery: Beyond Guwahati” on 21st March

Tickets start at Rs 1,06,990 per person in AC 2 Tier. It would cover Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Tripura, and Meghalaya in 15 days

The Indian Railways on Saturday announced that it would start the “North East Discovery: Beyond Guwahati”, specially designed tour to cover the Northeastern states of India by Bharat Gaurav Deluxe AC Tourist train, from March 21.

The train will travel through Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Tripura, and Meghalaya in 15 days. The train is set to depart from the Safdarjung Railway Station in New Delhi on March 21. The first stop of the deluxe AC train will be Guwahati in Assam.
“The train tour will start from Delhi Safdarjung railway station on March 21, 2023, and will cover Guwahati, Sivasagar, Jorhat & Kaziranga in Assam, Unakoti, Agartala and Udaipur in Tripura, Dimapur & Kohima in Nagaland and Shillong and Cherapunji in Meghalaya in 15 days,” a Railways Ministry press release said.

The deluxe train can accommodate 156 tourists, and is air-conditioned with AC I & AC II tiers.

Tickets for this special northeast tour starts from Rs 1,06,990 per person in AC 2 Tier, Rs 1,31,990 per person for AC 1 cabins, and Rs 1,49,290 per Person for AC 1 coupe. The ticket is inclusive of train journeys, hotel stays, all vegetarian meals, transfer costs and sightseeing in respective cities, and travel insurance, among other costs. IRCTC will also take care of all necessary health precautionary measures to provide a safe and memorable experience to the guests, the official release said.
Tourists can also avail of an EMI payment option for the trip. In order to make the package attractive and affordable to a large population, IRCTC has tied up with Paytm and Razorpay payment gateways.
Tourists can board and deboard at Delhi, Ghaziabad, Aligarh, Tundla, Itawah, Kanpur, Lucknow, and Varanasi railway stations on this tourist train.
To ensure safety measures in the present COVID-19 scenario, double vaccination for guests of age group 18 or above is mandatory. Besides, IRCTC will also provide a safety kit to all tourists, which would include a face mask, hand gloves, and sanitizer.
The official statement said that the Bharat Gaurav Tourist Train launch is in line with the Government of India initiatives “Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat” and “Dekho Apna Desh” to promote domestic tourism.

The Bharat Gaurav scheme was launched by the Indian Railways in 2021 to encourage Indian tourism and show India’s cultural heritage and spotlight a rich history nationally and globally. The scheme promotes “theme-based” train services. The theme for the North East circuit is “North East Discovery: Beyond Guwahati.
