CM N Biren Singh had a meeting with officials of the Taj Hotels and representatives of Howarth Hotels, a UK based hospitality and tourism development firm
Is Taj Hotels opening its luxury hotel in Manipur? Well it appears so. Manipur seems all set to get its first 5-star hotel.
Chief Minister N Biren Singh held a crucial meeting with officials of the Taj Hotels group, the luxury hotels chain and a subsidiary of the Indian Hotels Company Limited, a Tata Group company, that operates luxury hotel brands like Taj, Vivanta, Ginger, Seleqtions and representatives of Howarth Hotels, one of world’s largest and most experienced hospitality consultany firms based in United Kingdom.
Taking to Twitter, Chief Minister N Biren Singh said, “Pleased to chair a discussion with the visiting teams from Taj Hotel & Howarth Hotels at my secretariat.”
Setting up of a five star hotel in Manipur will definitely give a big boost to the state’s hospitality as well as tourism and industry sectors as well as give a fillip to the state’s economy.

N Biren Singh informing about the outcomes of the meeting said, “Had a productive discussion on widening the scope for travel & ecotourism in the state & the plans for making Manipur as one of the top tourist destinations in the country.”
If Taj Hotels opens its property in Manipur, it will be the group’s third property in the northeastern region.
It was on December, 2015 Taj Hotels Resorts & Palaces announced it’s entry into the region with Vivanta that opened in Guwahati.

Former Chief Minister of Assam Tarun Gogoi, had formally opened the hotel by unveiling a plaque in the presence of Cyrus P. Mistry, the then Group Chairman of Tata Group.
The next Taj property was launched in October last year, when Meghalaya got its first five-star hotel as Vivanta Meghalaya in Shillong.
It needs to be mentioned that the Crowborough Hotel which was converted to Taj Vivanta, was left abandoned for 36 years, and was rechristened and inaugurated as Taj Vivanta, Shillong.
