Manipur set to host G20’s B-20 session from 17th to 19th Feb, 23 countries to participate

Manipur is all set to host the first of the four B-20 Session in the North East which is the official G-20 Dialogue Forum for the global business community, Manipur education minister Th Basantakumar Singh informed.

The B-20 Conference scheduled for February 17, 2023, will be graced by Chief Minister N Biren Singh, Union Minister of State for Commerce and Industries Som Prakash, and Union Minister of State for External Affairs Dr. R. K. Ranjan Singh, in the presence of senior government officials from the state and center.

The B-20 Session, which is set to take place from February 17 to 19, 2023, will bring together delegates from 23 countries, including Australia, Argentina, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Chad, Canada, China, France, Greece, Iceland, Japan, Nepal, Russia, Seychelles, Singapore, South Africa, Switzerland, Tunisia, Uganda, the United States, and the United Kingdom.

Visiting dignitaries include 26 overseas business delegates and 24 diplomats, including ambassadors from these countries and the host nation, India.

Incoming trade and business delegations and representatives from Bhutan, Bangladesh, Japan, and Australia will participate in the 3-day B-20 Session.

Taking advantage of the presence of a large contingent of international delegates, the government of Manipur is making elaborate arrangements not only to showcase investment and partnership opportunities in the state but also to provide a unique experience for visiting delegates with exposure to Manipur’s culture, cuisine, art, festivities, and scenic beauty.

Th Basantakumar Singh also informed that the current 6th international women’s polo tournament at Imphal West Polo Ground is also a state government effort to tell the foreign dignitaries that polo originated in India, specifically Manipur. Ironically, the 6th International Women’s Polo Tournament, which begins on February 15th, 2023, will end on February 20th.
