With less than 2 weeks to go into the elections, Bernard Marak today came out all guns blazing against Chief Minister Conrad Sangma led NPP.

Political temperature is soaring in Meghalaya and particularly in South Tura where a close fight is on the cards between the NPP and the BJP. All eyes are set on this seat since, NPP candidate and Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma will be battling out against Meghalaya BJP vice-president Bernard Marak.

With less than 2 weeks to go into the elections, Bernard Marak today came out all guns blazing against Chief Minister Conrad Sangma led NPP.

Speaking in terms of the winning probability, Marak feels that the voters will opt for the BJP only.

Bernard Marak said,”My campaigns are going on in full swing and I am getting massive response at the grassroot level, especially those who have been deprived of the various schemes which were supposed to be given to the poor and the needy. Modi Ji has launched a lot of projects and schemes and out of these lot of schemes have been properly implemented in Tura, entire Garo Hills as well as Meghalaya. But people have been deprived. They are going to vote against the present CM, as well as former CM. And they will be voting for the BJP because they see BJP is the only party which is against corruption. Once BJP comes to power things are going to change.”

Besides, Bernard Marak also lashed out at the incumbent government by levelling corruption charges. According to him, funds meant for beneficiaries have been siphonned off only to use it for elections. The BJP leader alleged that the incumbent government lack proper political will.

To substantiate this, Bernard Marak said, “See there is no political will in the state government to rectify any of the compalints lodged by us or any individual or any NGO. They have actually ignored the complaints of the public in general also. Today we have to accept the sub-standard roads constructed in entire Garo Hills and even in Tura. The corruption is massive. Even the PMAY, names of 615 beneficiaries have been listed out but none of them have got the house.
All these money has been siphonned off by these leaders and they are using this money during the elections. Crores of rupees have been thrown away just to win the seats.”

Bernard Marak who had to serve brief imprisonment under controversial circumstances feels that he was targetted only for raising his voice against corruption. The Meghalaya BJP president said,”There has been lot of corruption in the previous government. We are all aware about it and we have been voicing out against it. This is the very reason that they have targetted me.”

Bernard Marak is also quite confident that the BJP’s tally will increase, after the ensuing elections. Marak believes that the Saffron Party will touch double digits.

He said,”BJP is going to win double figures, double digits. So I cant exactly say about the figures but we are looking at more than 15 seats.”

Reiterating the BJP’s commitment to fight against corruption, Bernard Marak said,”If people vote against corrupt leaders, against money, against all the corrupt system; than BJP is going to win more seats. We are more focussed in fighting against corruption and we are not going to indulge in anything which is against the interests of the people.”
