Charilam is one of the 60 Legislative Assembly constituencies. In 2018, Bjp candidate Jishnu Dev Varma won the seat by defeating CPI(M) candidate Palash Debbarma
Charilam is one of the 60 Legislative Assembly constituencies. It is in Sipahijala district and is reserved for candidates belonging to the Scheduled Tribes. It forms part of the Tripura West (Lok Sabha constituency). In 2018, the constituency had total 36,939 electors.
The current MLA is Jishnu Dev Varma of the Communist Party of India (Marxist). In 2018, Jishnu Dev Varma of the Bharatiya Janata Party won the seat by defeating Palash Debbarma of the Communist Party Of India (marxist) with a margin of 25550 votes. Jishnu Dev Varma was elected from the Charilam constituency in a bypoll. Jishnu Dev Varma is currently serving as Deputy Chief Minister.
This election, Jishnu Dev Varma of the Bharatiya Janata Party is contesting against INC’S Ashok Debbarma for the Charilam seat.
