Pre-poll violence in Meghalaya: TMC workers allegedly attacked by NPP workers in Phulbari constituency of West Garo Hills

With just few days left for the Meghalaya Assembly elections, an incident of alleged pre-poll violence has come to the fore.
Several Meghalaya TMC party workers were allegedly attacked by NPP workers at the Charbatapara booth in the Phulbari assembly constituency of West Garo Hills in Meghalaya on Tuesday night.
The incident took place at around 10.30 p.m., when the NPP workers vandalised the premises where the Meghalaya TMC was conducting a meeting.
The NPP workers thrashed and barged into the meeting premises, creating a ruckus.
Meghalaya TMC candidate SG Esmatur Mominin alleged that the NPP rally was being led by NPP’s Shyamnagar MDC Habeebuz Zaman and began pelting stones at the TMC party workers who had gathered at the place.
As per Mominin, four to five people sustained injuries during the attack.
TMC worker Nozrul Hoque, 59, was severely injured during the incident. The party workers rushed him to the nearby Phulbari CHC Hospital.
Meghalaya TMC candidate SG Esmatur Mominin is in contact with the injured party workers and has urged his party supporters to keep patience and maintain calm.
