Richard Mrong Marak, took a jibe at the NPP over the party's comment against Mukul Sangma
The TMC nominee for South Tura constituency, Richard M. Marak, who is locking horns with Chief Minister Conrad Sangma, has deprecated the last five years as “a dark era.”
Meghalaya TMC candidate from South Tura, Richard Mrong Marak, took a jibe at the NPP over the party’s comment against Mukul Sangma, falsely labelling his hard work as “a gimmick.”
Mounting a scathing attack on the NPP for dragging the citizens into a dark era, the Meghalaya TMC leader said, “I would like to remind the NPP of their catastrophic failure to even meet the basic needs of the common man of Meghalaya.” People lived in darkness for the past 5 years, deprived of any development or growth. “This double-engine government has only wrecked the lives of the people of Meghalaya.”
The South Tura candidate also slammed the NPP-led MDA government over its hollow promises given to the people of Meghalaya. He said, “We all have seen how teachers hit the streets to protest against the government, demanding the reinstatement of service. What did the NPP government do for them? lathi-charged them and hurled tear gas shells. This is the real face of the NPP government that boasts about development. Only hollow promises and tall words. Hundreds of unemployed youths spoke against the government over the lack of employment opportunities in Meghalaya. What has the NPP government done for them? “Isn’t it a democratic right to seek an explanation from the government?”
Highlighting that the ‘winds of change’ Marak said that TMC will uphold the rights of the people and be a torchbearer in bringing about this transition. “TMC is here standing with the people, holding their hands during this disastrous time under this dark rule of the NPP-led MDA government. The 10 pledges we have made are people-centric and intended to bring prosperity to the state. “NPP is surely trembling looking at the massive crowd that turns up at any TMC event across the state,” he said.
The Meghalaya TMC leader also gave a befitting reply to the NPP over baseless remarks on the Meghalaya TMC. “While our revolutionary schemes — WE Card and the MYE Card— are a true testimony of the confidence and support that is being shown by the people, the hollow words of the NPP have no place here,” he said.
