Tripura: Dy CM Jishnu Dev Varma is richest, Manik Saha is second and Sudip Roy Barman third richest MLA

BJP has the maximum number of crorepatis - 13 of the 33 sitting MLAs are crorepatis, Congress and CPI-M has 1 each crorepati MLAs

Tripura’s deputy chief minister Jishnu Dev Varma is the richest sitting MLA with assets worth over Rs 11 crores (Rs 11,07,38,073 crores) followed by Chief Minister Manik Saha with declared assets worth over Rs 8 crore (Rs 8,97,52,838 crore). Congress’s Sudip Roy Barman is the third richest sitting MLA with assets over Rs 8 crore (Rs 8,20,24,468 crore).

The deputy CM’s movable assets are worth Rs 71,38,073 and immovable assets are worth Rs 10,36,00,000, the Association of Democratic Reforms report released today said. DCM Dev Varma is the sitting MLA from Charilam.

CM Saha, a dental surgeon by profession, had won the by-polls on June 2022 from Town Bardowali.
BJP has the maximum number of crorepatis – 13 of the 33 sitting MLAs analysed by ADR are crorepatis, Congress and CPI-M has 1 each crorepati MLAs.

Sitting MLAs with minimum assets are Prem Kumar Reang (sitting IPFT MLA from Kanchanpur) with assets worth Rs 1,13,334 lakhs, followed by Sambhu Lal Chakma (sitting BJP MLA from Chawmanu) with assets worth Rs 1,33,286 lakhs and Santana Chakma (sitting BJP MLA from Pencharthal) with assets worth Rs 1,39,036 lakhs, the report said.

Sitting MLAS with highest liabilities are Congress’ Sudip roy Barman with liabilities worth over Rs one crore, Biplab Kumar Ghosh – over Rs 69 lakhs and Sushanta Chowdhury both from BJP at over Rs 48 lakhs
Sudip Roy Barman is the sitting MLA from Agartala. He had won the by-polls held on June 2022. Biplab Ghosh is the sitting MLA from Matarbari and Sushanta Chowdhury is the BJP MLA from Majlishpur.

BJP’s Krishnapur MLA Autul Debbarma has the highest income at Rs 54,73,483 lakhs in the financial year 2016-17. He is a retired employee of North Delhi Municipal Corporation. He is followed by BJP’s Barjala MLA Dilip Kumar Das with a declared income of Rs 39,01,678 lakhs for the financial year 2017-18. He is a pensioner and practicing at a private medical college. BJP’s Bagma MLA Ram Pada Jamatia has a declared income of Rs 37,03,948 lakhs in the financial year 2016-17.
