Meghalaya: PDF MLA, UDP working president joins NPP

Jason Mawlong and Donkupar Sumer joined the NPP in the presence of NPP State President and RS MP WR Kharlukhi and Meghalaya CM Conrad Sangma.

In a major boost to the National People’s Party (NPP) ahead of the Meghalaya polls, PDF MLA from Umsning constituency, Jason Mawlong, and Donkupar Sumer, Working President of UDP Ri Bhoi District and former MDC joined the NPP at an event in Patarim Football Ground, Umsning, Meghalaya.
NPP State President and Rajya Sabha MP, Dr WR Kharlukhi welcomed Mawlong and Sumer into the party fold. Meghalaya Chief Minister and NPP leader, Conrad Sangma, Deputy Chief Minister, Prestone Tynsong, Jirang MLA, Sosthenes Sohtun, Dr. Ampareen Lyngdoh, Ngaitlang Dhar, former MLA of Umroi and others party leaders were also present.

Addressing the meeting, Chief Minister Sangma expressed his immense pleasure at senior leaders like Mawlong and Sumer joining the party. “NPP party is growing day by day and has become the strongest party with the coming of new faces. They believe that only the NPP party can lead the state for all round developments ” Sangma said, adding that despite all the criticisms and obstacles, NPP will stand firm in its commitments and continue to work for the betterment of people in the state.
In December 2022, senior Congress leaders Dr. Ampareen Lyngdoh, Mohendro Rapsang and Kimfa Marbanniang had joined NPP.
