Cong names Mukul Wasnik as senior observer for Tripura, Meghalaya, Nagaland polls

The Indian National Congress today appointed observers for the ensuing assembly elections 2023 in Nagaland, Meghalaya and Tripura.

The party appointed two observers each for the respective states.

Rajya Sabha MP Mukul Wasnik has been named senior observer for the three states.

Former MP JD Seelam and party MP from Kerala Benny Mehnan have been appointed as observers for the Meghalaya polls.

Former Goa Chief Minister Francisco Sardinha and K Jayakumar, both MPs, have been designated as observers for Nagaland, while the Congress’ Delhi unit leader Arvinder Singh Lovely and party MP Abdul Khaleque have been designated as observers for Tripura.

Assembly elections in the three northeastern states, where the Congress aims to assume power, are scheduled for early next year.

Elections in Meghalaya will be held for 60 assembly seats while in Tripura the elections will take place for 59 assembly seats.
