Barely a few months to go to elections, the politics in Meghalaya has heated up with parties escalating ‘attacks’ on each other. Although in present scenario, the BJP shares a space in the MDA coalition, the Saffron Party has intensified it’s attack on NPP.
Meghalaya BJP vice-president Bernard Marak on the sidelines of a massive rally at Resubelpara, alleged that funds meant for beneficiaries, to be paid as salary to contractual teachers and district council employees have been diverted. Marak said, “This is festive season. Christmas is coming. In the entire state most of the contractual teachers, even district council employees and many others are not getting their dues.” The Meghalaya BJP vice-president wondered as to how such individuals will celebrate Christmas, and he said, “during Christmas we always wish each other. But when they are not getting their dues than how can they manage when they are the only earning member of the family?”
Expressing BJP’s solidarity to those who have been “deprived,” Bernard Marak pointed out that Chief Minister Conrad Sangma must actually focus and take up responsibility to pay all the people who are expecting their salaries in this festive season. The BJP leader alleged that the Chief Minister is enjoying and busy organizing entertainment programmes spending crores of rupees.
Marak maintained that his party always believes in equality and follows the sole motto of ‘Sabka Saath Vikash, Sabka Saath Vishwas’
Meanwhile, the Meghalaya BJP is leaving no stone unturned to woo the last voter in the Garo Hills. As part of the run-up to the assembly elections early next year, the BJP today held a massive rally at the Resubelpara Jongla playground today.
Former NPP leaders Benedict Marak, Dipul Marak, Dhormonath Sangma, Bernard Marak and Sukharam Sangma, who is also the local candidate for the party attended the rally. It was a shot in the arm for the Safforn Party, as at least 500 leaders and workers from other parties joined the BJP in the rally at Resubelpara.
