Four arrested for allegedly kidnapping Rupa Divisional Forest Officer

SP Seppa detained the accused party at Bana police check gate and DFO Rupa was also present with the accused

Bomdila police arrested four persons for allegedly kidnapping Rupa Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) Bittem Darrang from his home on Monday evening. The DFO is safely home.

West Kameng Superintendent of Police, B Bhart Reddy said at about 3 pm on Monday evening, it was reported by Range Forest Officer of Rupa that DFO of Rupa Forest Division Bittem Darrang has been kidnapped by four unknown persons from his residence at around 1 pm.

West Kameng District police immediately swung into action and 4 teams were formed to search all possible travel route. All check gates at Bhalukpong, Bana and Balemu were alerted and a photo of the DFO shared.

At around 5 PM, SP Seppa informed that the accused party has been detained at Bana police check gate and DFO Rupa was also present with them. A team led by SP West Kameng Bharat Reddy, DSP Radhe Obing and DSP Kekdam Lingo reached Bana and brought the kidnapped DFO and his alleged kidnappers back.

A case has been registered and an investigation is being conducted by Inspector T Dorjee.

The four accused have been placed under arrest and presented in the CJM court, Bomdila. Seven mobile phones, one tactical vest, one walkie-talkie and two vehicles without number plates have been seized from them.
