SIC arrests 1 more in APPSC paper leak scam, total 25 arrested so far; mass anti-scam rally tomorrow

The Special Investigation Cell (SIC) of Arunachal Pradesh Police investigating the APPSC paper leak scam arrested one more person today, December 2. The arrest comes a day ahead of the mass referendum rally to be held tomorrow. The rally is being led by the All Nyshi Students’ Union (ANSU) and supported by 40 other students’ bodies of Arunachal Pradesh.

The arrested person is 51 years old Gomo Sora, father of the recently arrested Mopin Sora. Mopin too was arrested in connection with the APPSC exam scam leak. The total number of arrests so far stands at 25.

SIC SP Anant Mittal, said that the SIC will soon file a charge sheet for all the cases and place it before the court. This will be done within the stipulated time. Meanwhile, the SIC is gathering evidence, looking into people who might have benefited from the question paper leak. The police is also looking at the brokers who might have been involved in the leak, SP Mittal said.

Yesterday, the SIC arrested two more people — Karik Darang and Yimak Rakshap.

The AE (civil) question paper leak case has been handed over to the CBI. The SIC is investigating all the other cases based on several FIRs filed by the aggrieved aspirants.

Meanwhile, unhappy with the progress and the manner in which the investigation into the APPSC paper leak scam is being conducted, ANSU is organising a Mass Referendum Rally on December 3 (tomorrow) to register their dissatisfaction and demand faster resolution of the matter, arrest of all those involved in the leak and jobs for Mudang Yabyang, a person with disability (PWD) candidate and Gyamar Padang, known as the whistle-blower of the APPSC exam paper leak.

ANSU’s other demands include, immediate arrest of the APPSC Chairman, secretary members, and all the officials, probe be monitored by Enforcement Directorate and the Court, immediate dismissal and termination of state government officials involved, exams be declared null and void where paper leak has been found, APPSC cannot announce examination date till the investigation is completed and SOP to be prepared with the participation of at least two aspirants.

The rally is scheduled to start at 7AM tomorrow from Dehra Natung Govt College and end at Indira Gandhi Park, Itanagar.
