Former Sikkim Chief Minister Pawan Kumar Chamling today lambasted the Prem Singh Tamang government over corruption as well as law and order situation in the state. Chamling alleged that severe corruption has taken place with regard to the utilisation of Rs 52,000 crore for various welfare projects sanctioned by the Government of India.

Chamling said that in reality no development has taken place in the state despite thousands of crores being allocated for the development of the Himalayan state by the Centre.

Chamling demanded a probe by a competent authority into the alleged bungling of funds by the Tamang government. Chamling also questioned the Centre’s role in dealing with the situation considering the fact that Sikkim is a sensitive border state.

The SDF chief also came down heavily on the Prem Singh Tamang government and said that even tourists were disappointed with the current state of affairs in the state. Chamling said that tourists now prefer to go to Darjeeling, as they find the situation to be peaceful, which is not the case in terms of Sikkim. According to the former Sikkim Chief Minister, the law and order situation has dipped to a new low.
