The All Manipur Health Services Doctors’ Association has decided to intensify its on-going stir by launching relay hunger strike and mass casual leave from tomorrow.
Addressing the media at District Hospital, Senapati, AMHSDA general secretary Dr Lolee P Mao stated that there is growing discontent among the doctors as the association submitted its demands 2 years ago but the government is yet to fulfil any of the demands.
Dr. Mao informed that earlier during a meeting, the Government agreed to fulfill their demands for time bound promotion, raising of superannuation age to 65 years for both specialists and non-specialists, NPA as per Central 7th Pay Commission with effect from 1st January of 2016 and major amendment of proposed 2020 MHS Rules. The MHS Rule made in 1982 is outdated with no major amendment made ever since, Dr Mao said.
The General Secretary of AMHSDA also questioned why the government cannot fulfill their demands while it did regularise some contract services like Health Mission service of more than 2,000 with exaggerating pay.
AMHSDA have been staging protests since the beginning of the week demanding fulfillment of their demands.
