Manipur: AMTDGF calls off indefinite economic blockade

Manipur govt decides to release Rs 150 crore for 16 districts under MGNREGA. AMTDGF urges govt to release it's Executives.
The All Manipur Tribal Development Grievances Forum has called off it’s indefinite economic blockade following a big decision by the Manipur govt.
The AMTDGF in a statement said that the decision comes after the N Biren Singh Government has assured to release Rs 150 crore under the MGNREGA to all 16 districts of Manipur.
The remaining balance will be released on a phase wise basis within January 2023 without any delay.
Meanwhile, the AMTDGF has appealed the state government to release all it’s executives and blockade supporters detained by the police without any condition.
Besides, the AMTDGF also urged the government to withdraw the arrest warrant issued against the AMTDGF executives.

The All Manipur Tribals Development Grievances Forum (AMTDGF), Imphal had called for an indefinite economic blockade from midnight of November 3 along Highway No 2, Dimapur-Imphal and Highway No 37, Jiribam-Imphal road.
The AMTDGF had called for the strike demanding that the Manipur govt releases all pending funds under MGNREGA.
Several hill-based organisations have extended support to the indefinite economic blockade. The AMTDGF had on October 10th submitted a memorandum to Chief Minister N Biren Singh demanding the release of Rs 756 crore sanctioned for the state by the Ministry of Rural Development.
