The Arunachal Law Students Union lodged an FIR on October 26 against the staff of the Naharlagun Fire Station, who were on duty when the infamous fire razed down a daily market in Naharlagun.
The union has placed five demands on the Home Minister, which include immediate transfer of SP, fire, and emergency services; immediate suspension of the fire personnel and contemplation of a disciplinary proceeding for dereliction of duty; a free and fair investigation in regard to the FIR; the grant of immediate compensation to the fire victims; and the initiation of a judicial inquiry.

The union further demanded that a high-level inquiry committee headed by a senior IAS or IPS be constituted to probe the causes that led to the fire incident.
On 25th October, hundreds of shops went up in flames in a massive fire which broke out at Naharlagun Daily market early in the morning.
Properties worth several hundreds of lakhs were reduced to ashes.
Vendors and locals alleged that the fire department reached the spot way after the fire had engulfed the entire market.
