First Published: 20th October, 2022 20:01 IST

Union Sports min Anurag Thakur has put aside all speculations & confirmed that India will host the event despite Pak warning to boycott.

India will host the 2023 edition of the Men’s ODI World Cup with all the cricketing nations set to be a part of it. Union Sports Minister Anurag Thakur has confirmed this amid Pakistan threatening to boycott the mega cricketing extravaganza.

The Pakistan Cricket Board’s reaction came after Asian Cricket Council (ACC) president Jay Shah confirmed that the 2023 Asia Cup will be held at a neutral venue instead of Pakistan.

The Sports Minister said that India is not afraid of any threat and it will not stop them from hosting the tournament.

It is for the first time that India will host the World Cup by itself in 2023. It co-hosted the 1987 World Cup with Pakistan and the 1996 World Cup with Pakistan and Sri Lanka.

The tournament made its return to India in 2011 when it co-hosted it along with Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.
