Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Biren Singh said the patrol vehicles would help in keeping a strict vigil along the highways. He added that the move will help to reduce crimes and extortions committed by miscreants against truckers and ordinary people.
The Chief Minister went on to announce that construction of 34 police outposts along the Indo-Myanmar border, starting from Behiang in Churachandpur to Jessami in Ukhrul district, has commenced after approval from the Union Home Ministry.
He also stated that increased police presence along border areas will aid in the reduction of illegal trafficking and immigrant infiltration.
