The impasse between the All Nagaland Ad hoc Teachers Group 2015 batch and the State government continues as the agitating teachers stand firm on their demand for regularisation rejecting the state government’s offer to constitute a High Powered Committee within one month to look into the issue.
The Ad hoc teacher’s indefinite hunger strike entered its third day today.
The ad hoc teachers began a sit-in protest against the state government on Monday demanding that the services of 1,166 teachers be regularised.
On Thursday night, the sit-in protest intensified to a hunger strike
The proposal to set up an HPC was agreed upon during a marathon meeting on Friday between the All Nagaland Ad hoc Teachers Group 2015 delegation and the government.
However, the general members did not agree with the decision. Subsequently, a general meeting was held yesterday wherein, it was decided that a representation will be submitted to Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio denouncing the decision.
All Nagaland Ad-hoc Teachers’ Group (ANATG) former Spokesperson Bendang Ozukum informed that the representation to the Chief Minister is likely to be submitted on Monday.
Ozukum also said the teachers have been asked to vacate the protest venue as it has been booked for some event before their agitation. The teachers are trying to reach out to the particular organisation to request them to consider their situation on humanitarian grounds.
Today, being a Sunday the teachers held a fellowship at the protest site and freewill offering was collected during the fellowship which will be donated to some orphanage, said Ozukum.
