The National Investigation Agency (NIA) is conducting raids at multiple locations linked to the Popular Front of India (PFI) members in at least seven states.

This is the second massive nationwide crackdown on people linked with the outfit. More than 90 people have been arrested or detained in the ongoing operation, spread across Karnataka, Gujarat, Delhi, Maharashtra, Assam, Uttar Pradesh, and Madhya Pradesh.

In the national capital, Delhi Police’s Special Cell carried out the searches in multiple locations, including Nizamuddin and Shaheen Bagh. Paramilitary forces were deployed in several places in the city where the raids were conducted.

In Karnataka alone, police have picked up at least 71 people for questioning. Condemning the raids, the kin of those raided and picked up by police staged protests in different places of the state. According to police sources, some people will be produced before courts and taken into police custody.

Earlier this week, over 106 members of PFI were arrested by the NIA and the Enforcement Directorate for allegedly supporting terror activities in the country. The NIA is investigating 19 cases involving the PFI.

Maharashtra Police have arrested four activists of the outfit from different locations in the Thane district for alleged anti-national activities.

More than 30 PFI members have been detained by the Delhi Police during multiple raids by central agencies in the national capital. As per the latest reports, the raids are still underway at several places in the city.

In state-wide raids in Karnataka, more than 75 PFI workers of its political wing Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) and leaders were taken into preventive custody.

Madhya Pradesh Police have detained 21 people over links with the outfit, state home minister Narottam Mishra said.
