A group of self-styled pundits were arrested by Bomdila police as they have been collecting money as donations for building a Radha Krishna temple somewhere in Malda, West Bengal. Investigation into the incident revealed that no such ashram was being constructed in Malda.
According to police superintendent Bharat Reddy, eleven persons with the names Ragunath Das, Uttam Das, Krishna Das, Pintu Das, Litun Das, Davo Das, Santan Kumar Das, Kanya Das, Haru Das, Pandav Das, and Akhil Das were staying at the Hotel Tashi Den near the Center in Bomdila while soliciting donations for the construction of a Radha Krishna Ashram somewhere in Malda, West Bengal.

Based on their assertion that the ashram had been built, it was discovered after inquiry with the official in charge of the Chachal police station in Malda, West Bengal, that no such ashram had ever been built.
The Officer in-charge said that they have visited different places of Arunachal Pradesh including Itanagar, Naharlagun, Pasighat, Aalo, Basar, Dapprijo, Seppa and collected huge money deceiving innocent people since last three to four years.
Meanwhile, the police have recovered nearly ₹ 70,000, cell phones and other fake documents from their possession and 200 donation booklets.
