Mizoram Home Minister Lalchamliana today said that the government officials in all the 11 districts of the state have completed profiling of 30,401 Myanmar refugees till date, of which 30,177 have been issued identity cards.
Replying to a question from ZPM leader V.L. Zaithanzama in the state assembly, Lalchamliana said that the process of profiling and issue of identity cards has been completed.
He, however, said that the process has been a continuous one as more refugees have been entering the state while some of them had returned to Myanmar.
The recent influx of almost 600 refugees into southernmost Mizoram’s Lawngtlai district due to intensified clashes between the Myanmar army and the Arakan Army cadres was not included in the number of refugees taking shelter in the state as stated by the home minister.

Meanwhile, state Home Department officials said that the number of refugees taking shelter in the state could not be constant as they later kept on moving around from district to district, while some of them returned to Myanmar and again entered India.
