Sikkim bus accident case: Bus driver apprehended by police

One of the injured passengers is said to be critical and has been shifted to Siliguri Hospital for treatment.

In a major success, the Sikkim police managed to apprehend the bus driver who was on the run following the accident that left at least 29 passengers on Wednesday.

The mishap took place at 7th Mile near Ranipool in Gangtok wherein the Bus bearing West Bengal registration number skidded off the road and toppled near a Gas station.

As per reports, around 30 passengers were on board the bus which was en route to Siliguri. The bus driver identified as Suraj Chettri fled from the spot right after the accident.

One of the injured passengers is said to be critical and has been shifted to Siliguri Hospital for treatment.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister PS Golay has announced financial aid of Rs 50 thousand each to the injured and Rs 2 lakh to the critically injured patient who has been referred to Siliguri hospital.
