Another Coal Tragedy: One killed in Meghalaya coal mine

The incident took place early this morning in Urak village, a remote hamlet close to Goreng under the Shallang Police Station.

At least one person was killed and another severely injured in an incident of alleged illegal coal mining.

The incident has been reported from the Shallang area of West Khasi Hills.

While details are still unclear as to what exactly happened, West Khasi Hills police swung into action after receiving information about the incident.

The deceased has been identified as Lapendro Sangma, a resident of Uguri, Goraimari under Kharkutta Police Station in North Garo Hills.

Meanwhile, the injured individual has been identified as Hendid Momin.
